Mole Evaluation & Treatment
MOLE CHECK
Why Does This Mole Look Different?
Why does this mole suddenly look… off? If you’ve got a spot that’s changing, itching, or just looks different from the rest, your gut is telling you something. At Atmos Derm, we help you understand what that change means—and give you peace of mind.
What Is a Mole?
A mole is simply a cluster of pigmented cells (melanocytes). Moles can be flat or raised, round or oval, and appear anywhere on the body. Their color can range from brown and black to pink or flesh-toned.
Who Gets Moles?
Almost everyone. The average person has between 50–100 moles. You may have more if you have fair skin, a family history of moles, significant sun exposure, hormonal changes (such as pregnancy or puberty), or certain immune system conditions.
When Should You Be Concerned?
Does This Mean Skin Cancer?
Not necessarily. Many suspicious-looking moles are atypical (dysplastic) but not melanoma. The only way to know for sure is with a biopsy, which is quick and performed right in our clinic.
What Happens During a Mole Check?
Our dermatologists carefully examine the mole using specialized tools, decide whether a biopsy is needed, and safely remove suspicious lesions using advanced techniques. Results are delivered promptly.
Bottom line: You don’t need to panic about every spot—but you shouldn’t ignore changes either. Let’s take a look together and make sure everything is okay.
